Gifts to the Ann S. Bowers Women’s Brain Health Initiative are deeply appreciated. By joining in our efforts, your gift, large or small, helps advance the study of women’s health. With the link above, you can provide immediate funding to support current needs and emerging opportunities for the WBHI.
If you are interested in supporting specific areas of research, here are a few examples of the way your gift can help us advance women’s health research and close the gender data gap.
Your generous donations are critical to advancing groundbreaking research that shapes the future of neuroscience and women’s brain health. With your partnership we can expand our initiatives, accelerate discoveries, and ensure that our findings make a meaningful impact on both science and society.
- Longitudinal Menopause Project
The Longitudinal Menopause Project is a pioneering study whose mission is to launch one of the largest studies in the world on brain health and the menopause transition. This study aims to enable better outcomes in women’s later life brain health, as well as optimize clinical decision-making and neurological disease prevention in middle-aged adults from all walks of life. Donations to the Longitudinal Menopause Project will ensure we continue to search for solutions to increase quality of life through aging. - Maternal Brain Project
The Maternal Brain Project (MBP) is a first of its kind dataset and study of the profound neural adaptations that occur during gestation and motherhood. We have mapped neuroanatomical changes in an individual from preconception through two years postpartum, and we are now launching a global expansion to integrate a diverse population of 1000+ first-time mothers from the US and Spain. Our AI Core is building the first digital twin of the maternal brain to improve care for women worldwide. A contribution will help catalyze this research and expand diverse participation in this important study. - WBHI Brain Bank Incubator
We are building the largest and most comprehensive dataset of brain imaging and women’s health–related phenotypes to date. This is made possible by integrating data across Brain Imaging Centers within the University of California system, requiring the integration of 50+ collaborators across 6 UCs and Stanford. Gifts will help propel this incubator and collaboration forward. - WBHI Discretionary/Flexible Funds
The WBHI is at a pivotal juncture, and your support will launch new moonshot projects that leverage innovations in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and brain imaging research to accelerate the pace of discovery for women’s brain health.
Your donations help provide vital funding for the next generation of scientists and researchers, ensuring they have the resources and training to pursue innovative studies. By supporting our trainees, you are investing in the future of neuroscience and fostering the development of leaders who will drive meaningful advancements in women’s brain health.
- Women’s Brain Health Fellow (grad student/postdoc)
Gifts will support outstanding doctoral students or early career researchers in neuroscience, psychology, and computer science, including incoming students, pursuing research in the area of women’s brain health. - Visiting Scholar Awards
Donations enable us to host visiting scholars, bringing world-renowned experts to share their knowledge, collaborate on research, and inspire our community. By supporting these opportunities, you help foster groundbreaking ideas and cultivate a global exchange of innovation in neuroscience.
Your donations empower us to expand community engagement and educational initiatives, bringing cutting-edge neuroscience discoveries to the public. By supporting these efforts, you help foster greater awareness, inspire future scientists, and build connections that bridge research and society.
- Public Outreach
Donations support public outreach programs like workshops, seminars, and the creation of educational materials, making neuroscience accessible to broader audiences. By funding these initiatives, you help spark curiosity, promote scientific literacy, and encourage meaningful dialogue between researchers and the community. - Advocacy Campaigns
Private philanthropy fuels advocacy campaigns that raise awareness about critical issues in neuroscience and brain health. By supporting these efforts, you help amplify the voices of researchers, promote evidence-based policies, and drive positive change in public health and science funding. - Partnership Development
Gifts support the development of strategic partnerships that expand the reach and impact of our research. By funding these collaborations, you help unite experts across disciplines, foster innovation, and accelerate breakthroughs in neuroscience and brain health. - Conference Sponsorships
Contributions make it possible to host conferences, meetings, and symposia that bring together leading minds in neuroscience to share knowledge and spark innovation. By supporting these events, you help advance collaboration, inspire new ideas, and drive progress in understanding brain health.
